Cynical town can be tough on an angel
I'm her clown 'cause a laughing angel's richer than kings

| Name: | Richer Than Kings and *Untitled* -- NaNo 2008 |
|---|
This is the journal home for Lee's 2008 NaNoWriMo works: Richer Than Kings and a currently untitled novel, tentatively called/part of a series called Darklight. The sum of the word counts for these two will add to the requisite 50k. ...Theoretically.
Both are inspired by Arthurian legends. The primary non-legendary media influence on Richer Than Kings is a rather crappy movie called The Last Legion, which is redeemed by having Colin Firth play Roman general Aurelius who wields Caliburn at the end. It was an influence by giving me the idea, "Hey, write an Arthurian legend!" The primary non-legendary media influence on the still-untitled work was the even crappier BBC series called Merlin, which is redeemed entirely by an attractive Arthur Pendragon and an Uther Pendragon beautifully portrayed, with accuracy and depth of character, by one Anthony Stewart Head. It was an influence by having a comment about two sides of the same coin, interesting (lame) things happening in the episode The Poisoned Chalice, and having an Uther Pendragon beautifully portrayed, with accuracy and depth of character, by one Anthony Stewart Head. Emphasis on the "beautifully" part.
Richer Than Kings:
In a world of determined by alternatively specific and vague prophecies, a young man and his younger brother both discover their increasingly powerful abilities in war and magic, and drag their reluctant older cousin along as prophecy calls for a hero and a king.
Untitled:
A crippled boy, who since an accident has had surprising and sometimes frightening magic and an unsteady personality, befriends a young prince and his family, falling into events which quickly spiral out of control as old enemies prepare to strike and old friends lurk in surprising corners.
